The following organizations
and programs provide other information and/or professional development opportunities.
For a listing of professional development activities (workshops, conferences,
trainings, courses and meetings) in your area, contact the area's community
child care support agency.
- Early Childhood Professional Membership Organizations- Each of these organizations invites you to become a dues paying member who receives benefits. These vary but some of them include access to services, a professional journal, membership card, discounted attendance at the organization’s conferences, etc.
- National
Association for Family Child Care- (NAFCC) The mission of NAFCC
is to support the profession of family child care and to encourage
high-quality care for children. NAFCC has promoted high-quality
family child care through accreditation, leadership training, technical
assistance, public education, and policy initiatives. NAFCC holds
an annual national conference and publishes a quarterly newsletter. http://www.nafcc.org/accred/accred.html
- Vermont
Child Care Apprenticeship Program- This program offers caregivers the chance to apprentice in an accredited
program under the supervision of an experienced, trained mentor.
You will take college level courses; receive on the job training
and an increase in your salary as you move through this program.
Funded through a grant from the United States Department of Labor
and the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, its' purpose is to
