Level V

Professionals enter Level V by enrolling in graduate courses in early childhood education or related fields toward the Master's degree.   The typical prerequisites for admission to graduate study include the completion of the Bachelor's degree in any field and an application that demonstrates professional commitment to the field of early childhood education, among other elements.   Options in Vermont include traditional and innovative graduate programs.   For example, the University of Vermont, Johnson State College, Goddard College, Union Institute, and the Higher Education Collaborative in Early Education through the Vermont Department of Education are available options in Vermont.

After completing the academic program and obtaining licensure, professionals complete three years of work experience and subsequently complete Level V.   This is a significant investment for early childhood professionals and they are considered leaders in the field at this level.   Professionals should begin or maintain participation in a professional organization or statewide committee.
